Meet the artist
Devon Nowlin
Sunday 15th August 2-3pm

For GARAGE, Devon exhibits work from the Focus collection, which pairs small soft sculptures with exhibition brochures and painted elements in a variety of arrangements.

It is a process of exploration in form, pattern, relationships of representation (two-dimensional, three-dimensional, the hand made and the reproduction), and between contemporary and art historical references.

“A playful exploration, I consider this practice an educational activity. Teaching myself pattern-making and shape-making, comparing these forms with their painted re-presentation, and placing them in the context of museum texts that are intended to educate (and which have played a significant role in my ongoing education) allow me to consider new methods and forms for myself as an artist.”

Devon Nowlin is a painter based in Fort Worth, Texas.  She will be here and available for a chat on Sunday 15th August, 2-3pm.
